Princess

I wish I could wear pajamas all day. They are the best article of clothing, ever. I used to think that blue jeans were the best, and then I thought flip flops were perfect, but I have since settled on the fact that pajamas rule all.

Not much is going on with me today, so this posting will probably be fairly boring. Last night I lied on my sofa, and flipped between reading the latest Harry Potter novel and listening to Ian Moore sing about lost love. It was a perfect way to spend a mid-August evening.

My parents just celebrated their anniversary. They have been married for 17 years as of the 6th of August. They are the best and I am so grateful to have them as parents.

This is how I know that Jerry (my step-dad) loves my mom:
Jerry has called my mom “Princess” as a nickname for the past 18 or so years that they have been together (including the year they dated). My mom never really considered why he called her Princess, she just sort of accepted it and went about her way. A couple of years ago my mom decided to inquire why he calls her Princess, instead of something like “honey” or “sweetheart”.
He then reminded my mom about one of the first dates they went on. They were out to dinner at a restaurant and my mom was chatting about how she was adopted when she was 3 years old. Then she made an off hand comment like “Who knows, I could be a Princess of some country for all we know…”
And since that day, Jerry has referred to my mom as “Princess”. And he told her that "even if she wasn't a real life princess, he could always make her feel like one."
And for 15 years he did this, without ever telling her why or admitting that since that night he always saw her as a princess. And he would have gone another 15 years of not saying anything, if my mom wouldn’t have inquired.

That is the best representation of love that I have ever seen in my life.

Congratulations to both of you and I love you both very much.
