Day 1 and I ended up checking out shows I hadn't planned on. Who I saw: Aqualung (very cool), Panic at the Disco! (fun, high energy but there dancers were a rip off of the Killer's video), Editors (really good!), Ryan Adams (great show and i can report he didn't fall off the stage), Lady Sovereign (ok, high energy but not that impressive - which happens when hip hop/rap uses a live band), The Raconteurs (best show of the night!!!), Sleater-Kinney (great show and their last one ever) and Death Cab for Cutie (Ben is always awesome!).
**On a side note, Jimmy and I were talking about the state of music now a days. There seems to be a ton of great bands out there but they shine for about a month and then get replaced so quickly. Here are some examples of bands that had a lot of hype and then vanished: Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Arctic Monkeys and Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah. All were HUGE and now...they're gone. Is alt. music (or "complaint rock" as my friend, Matt A., calls it) becoming more like pop music, where you need to churn out albums on an annual basis in order to keep your head above water?
DJ Matty B from the "O.C." - i would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this.**

na. I think it's like every music generation. There are a few mainstays and a lot hyped-up others. During the 80's there were tons of one album hype bands. The question is, which bands from this generation are going to last? The White Stripes? The Strokes? DCFC?
let's talk about the really important bands that have gone away: New Kids on the Block, 98 degrees, the Backstreet Boys, N-Sync... I could go on... where are they now???!!!
or how about we talk about the bands that just won't go away: Paris Hilton or Jessica Simpson.
