Ready....Set....OK Go!!

Jimmy, Amy and I checked out the Ok Go! show last night at Logan Sq. Auditorium. It was an AWESOME show. They were extreme high energy for the whole set and they sounded so good live! At one point a man in an orange jump suit wheeled out what looked to be a round trampoline into the middle of the crowd (about 5-10 feet in front of where we were standing). Then the lead singer announces they are going to play a couple of songs in the crowd and the hand out flashlights to a bunch of people in the crowd, to shine on them while they play. And they get up on this circular wood stage and sing a couple of songs and it was so incredibly cool.
And then the encore wasn't just another song off the cd, they put on a huge photo of the lead singer's back yard and they did the "dance" to one of their songs. (You know, the one that was all of YouTube.) It was so much fun and just made all of us smile and feel super happy.

Blue Light Special

Dan's band played at The Blue Star Lounge last night, so we ventured out to support our friend and hear some fun tunes. I was able to get a couple games of pool in too! (I will eventually get photos up but right now blogger is broken. Again.)

FedEx

Oh snap! Kevin Fed. found out about the divorce via text message! Ouch!! But it does spark an interesting question: What is the worst way you have ever broken up with a person?

I shall begin.
First and foremost I would like to say that this guy, whom shall remain nameless, totally deserved to be broken up with. He stood me up on my 17th birthday family dinner! Total jackass move on his part.
So the tale goes like this: Angie, my sister, and I sound pretty much the same on the phone. After said ex-boyfriend bailed on dinner I knew he needed to be kicked to the curb. But I also knew that I am sometimes too nice and forgiving of a person and I worried that I wouldn't go through with the break-up. My sister, on the other hand, she's good at standing her ground and she's stubborn enough to not waiver even in the slightest. And she was pissed off at this guy.
So I had Angie call the guy, posing as me, in order to dump him over the phone.

And might I add that Angie totally deserves props for this cause she really reamed him good. Sisters are great like that!

I'm Breezy!

Michelle and I each walked two blocks to meet up for some drinks last night. I love that we're neighbors!

Brit-Brit's Back!

Breaking News: Britney's filed for divorce from that white-trash, dead-beat dad, rapper wanna-be. Yahoo!

Mean People Suck

I must admit I was surprised by Saddam's sentencing. I figured he would be found guilty but death by hanging what a shocker. Does that seem brutal to anyone else? I read that he asked for a firing squad instead but his request was denied.
I know he's an evil person but don't you think we should lead by example? And maybe there is no humane way to put someone to death but, I don't know, hanging just seems cruel and archaic to me.

So I guess the moral of the story is: Don't Be Mean.

*Which makes me pose another question for you: Is being too nice a bad thing too? Remember about 6 months ago (check back in April/May 2006 for this posting) I questioned whether it was ok to be selfish every now and then? That brought about some interesting comments from my readers. Anyway, I'm beginning to wonder if it's best to find a balance and to be nice every now and then but to be mean every now and then too. Sometimes I feel like people don't take you seriously unless you are a bitch every once in awhile. Thoughts?

20/15

And here is a photo of the final product! I now have 20/15 vision, which is better than I ever expected! My hazel eyes are no longer hidden behind glasses (although I must say my frames were pretty kick ass).
You will have to excuse the pale skin, I'm not allowed to wear make-up for one week after surgery in order to ensure none of it gets into my eyes. I also had to go out and buy all new eye make-up, to decrease my chances of getting an eye infection. But I don't mind...I love shopping!

Oh Say Can You See

Some of the ways my family got amusement during my blind/drugged up state (oh yeah, I am completely blind in these photos. After surgery, your eyes mat shut and it hurts to try and open them, so you basically move around with your eyes closed for the first 12 hours):
1. Suggested ordering Chinese food for dinner and making me use chopsticks to eat
2. Having soup for dinner
3. (and the winner) Giving me Jello and whipped cream for dessert and see how much makes it into my mouth

And what is up with the photo of me passed out in the recliner? When did I grow a double chin? I believe that is the most unflattering photo of me that has ever been taken.

"Laser"

The valium kicked in right when the surgery ended (great timing, huh). So while I waited for my mom and aunt to come pick me up, I ended up falling asleep in the chair. Aahhhh, drugs. :)
They have you wear these ridiculous goggles for the rest of the day and night after the surgery. This is so I don't touch my eyes, even in my sleep, and so they are protected from debris while they try to heal.
My family had fun with me in these goggles. I think I will give them to my nephew when I am done with them. I bet he would get a kick out of them.
*I am totally out of it in these photos*

I See You and I'm So Unsatisfied

Alrighty, on to the good stuff. First you have a pre-op appointment. In this appointment they take about 10 different scans of your eye and come up with all of these topigraphical pictures, side pictures, etc. Then they dilate your eye and exam everything inside.
The doctor is going to try and email me some of the pictures they took of the side and inside of my eye. If/when I get them, I will be sure to post them for your viewing pleasure. :)

Norweigan Stuff

I also snapped some photos of the Norweigan decor and artwork that my Aunt and Uncle have. Aunt Jane and I also watched a Scandanavian cooking show on the Food Network. Uff Da!

Kissin' Cousins

The night before surgery, my cousin Tom came over with his wife, Sara, and their two kiddies, Gabrielle and Parker.

Let's Eat!

So here begins my blogs for my trip to Omaha. First I will post pictures of family and then I will post pictures of surgery.
The first night, Aunt Jane, Uncle Craig, my mom and I made lamb chops with rosemary, sauteed raisins, bacon and brussell sprouts and acorn squash. Delicious!
The second night, we had homemade chicken and noodles with strawberry dessert. My mom actually woke up early to make the noodles from scratch!
