29 and Thank You

With just a few hours to go, until I officially start my 29th year of life, I have decided to use today's blog to thank God. I've been blessed with 28 years and I hope to blessed with many more.
I want to thank God for giving me the family I have. I am so grateful for my parents (Sue, Jerry, Larry), my brother (Lance), sister (Angie), and my two beautiful nephews (Gavin and Max).
I want to thank God for all the gifts that I have been given in these 28 years. I've been healthy, I've traveled, and I've met wonderful people. And I want to thank God for the gift of all of my friends. I feel very blessed to know people like Laine, Sadia, Karla, Josh, my family at Burbank Christian Church (Steve, Murry, and all the rest of them), Joy and Pete, and all of the wonderful friends I have in Chicago.

So thank you for a wonderful 28 years. :)

ok, i'm going to go back to freakin' out about the fact that i am now 29.

Gulp

It just hit me that today is the last day of my 28th year.
I need a drink.

The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Michelle, Tim and I went and saw Talladega Nights tonight. It was hilarious! Oh my God, I can't wait to see it again! I'm sure I missed some good parts just cause I was laughing so hard! Michelle kept giggling throughout the film which just got me laughing even more.
BTW: I didn't find it offensive at all (some of those crazies out there just need something to complain about).
Josh, well done. I'm proud of you and I'm happy for you. I am happy that you are doing what you love to do and that you are so appreciative for all that you have. And I'm grateful to have you as a friend. (ok, sappy stuff is over now)

Now go roller skate your ass off, and know that if you skate backwards during a couple's song, I will have a new level of respect for you. Yeah Josh! (or Joshua, depending on the day...)

**ps - i would like to point out that the movie theater lobby did have a lot of people in it when michelle snapped the photo of me in the cardboard cut out. appartently i don't mind making a total ass of myself in a public place.**

Thanks for the Prayers

I forgot to let you guys know that I heard that my (ex) step-sister is now cancer-free. Thank you to everyone who kept her in your prayers.

Lollapalooza: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Last but not least we have pics of the final set, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Travis and I only stayed for about 30 minutes of this set. We both got bored pretty fast but it was long enough to hear the only song I like on their new, double-disc as well the song "Scar Tissue".
Here's the weekend in a nutshell:
The Good - all the volunteers (you guys are awesome, thank you so much for all you did), The Raconteurs, The Raconteurs cover of "Crazy", Broken Social Scene, Gnarles Barkley, hanging with my friends, the weather, running into everyone i wanted to see and not into anyone i didn't want to see, and the wristband that was rigged for Travis so he could get into the park on Sunday.
The Bad - Wilco's set (not that impressed, and he was dressed like a leprachaun), my choice of SPF on Friday (sunburn is almost gone), all the people that wore t-shirts for the bands they were seeing that day (watch "PCU" and learn your lesson), the Red Hot Chili Peppers (zzzz....) and the line for beer.
The Ugly - the chick who was wearing high heels on Friday, how everyone smelled on the L ride home each night, the lady who brought her newborn child and was sitting under the speakers (that is not wise for good eardrum development), and everyone smoking pot right next to where i stood (you're stinking up my air).

all in all, amazing weekend.

Lolla - Broken Social Scene

Hands down, the best show of the day was Broken Social Scene. The entire band was there and they put on a strong 45 minute set. It was very beautiful music. The crowd was very respectful and quiet (except when we clapped along in a few of the songs). After, we stood there and chanted "one more song" for about 5 minutes and it was obvious the band really wanted to do an encore but The Red Hot Chilli Peppers needed to start, so they weren't granted permission.
They also had Amy, from The Stars, playing violin. Beautiful.
