With spring's arrival, my palate has begun craving sweet berries and tart citrus. Nothing quenches my thirst on a hot summer day like a cold glass of lemonade. Unfortunately, when it comes to store bought lemonade, I find most packaged drinks to be overly sugary and, in most cases, they rarely taste like lemons.
And who has time to hand squeeze fresh lemons?
Here's a tasty recipe my sister-in-law shared with me, that I love! It's inexpensive, easy, and super quick - what beats that combination?
In a pitcher, combine 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup sugar, and fill the rest with cool water. Stir and serve!

I've found a way to improve on this recipe just a bit, by making a simple syrup (like they do in the south when they make sweet tea). In a pot mix 1 1/2 cup water and 1 1/4 cup sugar. Heat until the sugar dissolves. Cool for 20 minutes and pour into a pitcher and add 1 1/4 cup lemon juice. Fill the rest of the pitcher up with water, stir and serve. With this slight change, the sugar will never undissolve in the drink. :)
