6am

My neighbor woke me up this morning at 6am because he was vomiting so loudly. I used to think it was the woman who was bulimic but now I'm thinking it's the man. And it's been going on for 2 years. Whoever it is, how can the other person in that marriage/house not do anything about it? They have 2 small children and if I can hear the retching from my house next store, I guarantee those children can hear it just down the hallway.

I feel like I need to say something, if not to try and save that person's life but just so I can get a good night's rest! I'm thinking an anonymous note. Or I could just order a pamphlet on bulimia to be delivered to their home.

What do you guys think?

ever think it could be chemo or reaction to medicine...

well, considering they are both young and healthy looking. and it's been going on for 2 years. chemo doesn't last two years. i know, my aunt had it.

and if it was a medicine reaction, the doctor would have changed the Rx by now.

i've woken up to vomiting a few times a week for 2 years. and there is also vomiting at night around 10:30pm.

maybe he's drunk? it's a drinking problem?

could you play "dumb" and just pretend you have not heard it until recently and play the concerned neighbor just checking to see if everything is ok because you overheard vomiting - then maybe you get the point across that you heard. and you don't really need to mention all the other times? or even suggest what it might be?

well if ther healthy looking the vomiting must be working... invest in ear plugs.

I think that guy used to live near Heidi and Sara in my neighborhood... their bathroom window was about a foot away from his. They called him "VN." (Vomiting Neighbor... obviously.)

good suggestion, julia. i think i'll either mention i heard someone being sick and i hope everyone is feeling ok....or i'll leave an anonoymous note asking them to close their window (my girlfriend S.K. had to do something similar with her neighbor who was a screamer during sex)

This is a tough one. If the person is sick and undergoing some sort of treatment, I'd feel bad pointing out that I could hear. I bet they'd be embarassed and couldn't do anything to change it anyway. Have you told your landlord? Maybe she knows more about the neighbors...

yeah, maybe i'll talk with her first. she's usually pretty clueless though.

the weather is getting colder which will make us all close our windows up. that will help, for sure.

ugh. it's such an awful sound to have to hear every morning from 6am till 6:50am.

The only way I can see addressing the issue - and I'm not sure addressing it at all is a good idea - is a note saying that you're being disturbed (waking up, being kept up at night) by "noises" at approximately 6 a.m., 10:30 p.m., whatever, several times throughout the week.
This way you don't have to mention vomiting, avoiding a potential confrontation. But it still gives you a way to let them know that you're aware of the situation.
Either that, or say nothing at all. I worry that being completely open about it opens you up to potential backlash. Drunks can be quite violent.

One other thing ... I hope this person doesn't know about your blog.

They don't know my name or my blog.

If they did know your name and your blog you wouldn't have to leave a note at all.

*HI Vomiting Neigbor!!!!*

-Now I know why you went private on the blog, again.
