Chris and I watched There Will be Blood last night. All 2 1/2 hours of it. Um...I don't get it. It seemed sort of anti-climactic. Remind me why this was nominated for so many Oscars? Was it because it was long? Was it up for the Long Movie Award?
I think I'm gonna have to ask my film friends, Matty B, Josh, and Aaron, to please explain this film. Please explain all 2 1/2 hours of it.

my dearest olivia....
1. DDL alone made the movie deserved of all those nominations. let's not kid ourselves...
2. what a powerful story: in the end Plainview gains the world but loses his soul. this film tracks his demise in a believably slow (your comment) but prevailing arch. you can almost see yourself in bits of his character - how you could attempt to tackle something with the most positive of motives but in the end get caught up in it all - and you don't even realize until it is too late.
ok...i guess that was more of my theological bend to it - but i really did like the movie. the raw humanness of it...
This movie was long, but it was excellent!
The acting...amazing.
The soundtrack...epic.
The quotes! "I drink all your milkshake. I drink it UP!" "I've abandoned my son!" "I'm an oil man...and this is my son, H.W."
The scenes between Daniel and Eli were the best.
Have you seen Old Country yet? I won't if you did like this one. ;)
oops...I meant to say, "Have you seen Old Country yet? I won't if you did NOT like this one. ;)"
