Don't Waste the Pretty

My friend Sadia made a very bold move this weekend, and I am so proud of her for having the courage to finally speak up. She told Dustin that she had feelings for him. He responded by saying he didn't want to hurt their friendship.

That sucks.

I spent Saturday night re-reading "He's Just Not That Into You" and there is a whole chapter on "He's just not that into you if he is using the I-don't-want-to-hurt-our-friendship excuse". I also stumbled across the chapter on "He's just not that into you if he's not calling you" and the chapter on "He's just not that into you if he's not asking you out on dates".

Then I put the put the book down.

Sadia is one of the most beautiful persons I have ever met in my life. She is an extremely intelligent, creative, positive, and absolutely hilarious person. There is a reason why she has friends in every city in the world! I don't understand why men don't see these incredible qualities in her. Hell, I don't understand why men don't see all the incredible qualities in all of my girlfriends. I hear my friends talk about how they hate being single and I shake my head at the thought that they still are single! How can they not have been snatched up by now?!

I hope Sadia knows how much she means to me and that every day I am grateful to have her in my life. And the same goes for Precious, Leah, Ann, Annie, Ashley, Andrea, Sarah, and Juli. I wish my love for all of you filled up that space where a guy is missing. But in the meantime, I will keep buying rounds of strong beer and splitting Flash Taco at 4:30am until that guy comes along.

Cheers, my love!

You should stop reading that silly book - it creates ridiculous assumptions and unattainable expectations. You can't live life by a book.

you only have to read the book until you know that he is "just that into you". once that is settled, you can put the book down and just relax.

But what you "know" is based on the "teachings" of that book - assuming is not knowing. It's using generalities in inter-personal relationships, which are individually unique - at the very least, they're not systematic or scientific and one action does not always mean one thing - there are no absolutes. I say just relax...and burn the book.

Stop using words that are more than 2-3 syllables. The reading level on this blog is that of a 4th grader. words/phrases such as "ridiculous assumptions", "unattainable expectations", "individually unique", and "systematic or scientific" should not be used here. please stick to phrases more like, "your mom's a whore, go f*ck yourself" or "i like tequila"

oh shit, that's funny...

other acceptable phrases
"I'm from the south!"
"It's Rock-n-Roll, baby!"
and
"make that a double"

Sorry - I feel pressured by Olivia to speak like a college library assistant (and aspiring writer) - that goes for blogs, phone, or in person - I think I actually read it in the book: "he's not that into you if he doesn't speak at your vocab level". I'll try to use my personal Scrabble vocabulary from now...

oh shit, that's even funnier

my vocab switches from valley girl ("I am so not eating that") to Doogie Hauser MD ("I think it would be wise for me to evaluate my behavior and make a strong effort to avoid such circumstances in order to remove the possibility of repeating such a negative outcome.")

and yet Brian always kicks my ass in Scrabble.
