Just to Love You, Baby, is Not Enough

Last night, Lee, Mike and I saw Ian Moore's show at Martyr's. I do love me some Ian Moore but I'm really on the fence about this new album. (Josh, I'm eager to hear what you think after you see the show in October....) It's really loud with a lot of distortion and it pretty much doesn't sound like Ian Moore at all.
But I will still see him every time he comes through town. And I will still text Josh throughout the concert reminding him how much I miss him and how I wish we could see the show together.

Here's the lyrics to New Day by Ian Moore. I love this song...

Everyday feels like a New Day
Sun has broken through the night's haze
I drink my coffee from a big cup
And I ain't ever gonna get up,
Get up

If I's a writer well I'd lay around
Smoking cigarettes and thinking about
The life I'd live if I was someone else
If love was lost & I was by myself
By myself

But babe your love is like a mountain stream
What's rough & rocky turns the valley green
And just to love you baby is not enough
Baby I just want to drink you up
Drink you up

My head is heavy & my tongue is slow
But I just want to call to let you know
Your word's weren't wasted Baby I'm doing OK...
And every day is like a New Day

My BFF's B-Day

ahahahahaha! i love snapping photos of my friends...when they least expect it. :)
happy 29th, sarah! aren't you glad i have a blog so the whole, wide world can see these photos!!!

ps) i believe it to be physically impossible for me to take a photo with sarah, with my mouth closed.

Hideout Block Party

I snapped some photos of this weekend's Hideout Block Party. My blog is not working so great today so sorry it's taken so long to get these up.
The marching band is called Mucca Pazza and the other night photo is Bloc Party.

Commute

I found a new favorite hobby for my commute into work...shaving my legs. Actually, I just focus on those pesky kneecaps that are so impossible to get in the shower. I highly recommend it! The lighting is perfect and your knees (or at least mine) are in perfect view while sitting on the Edens!

I am sure the semi-driver next to me thought I was insane.

Doormat

Rock the vote, people.
I'm thinking of buying this doormat, which is now on sale and! with my discount it's even cheaper (we're talking less than $15).
it's no where near holiday time but if i wait, it will probably sell out.
Do I buy it? Yes or No?

House Hunting

Lance and Nourtney went house hunting this past weekend. They wanted to get that moment captured so they had an artist sketch this up.

Hilarious!

Wicked

Some wicked storms ripped through Chicago last night. A tree in my backyard split in half and blew across the yard. It's sorta resting on some live wires and our back porch. The tree, last night, was actually on the back porch but some overnight winds actually blew it back away from the house.

I still can't enter my apartment without walking through my neighbors apartment. ComEd said it will be 3 days before they can tell us when they will come and look at the wires. And the tree can't be touched/moved until ComEd looks at the wires. So my backyard will most likely be a bit messy for this week. But in the grand scheme of things, this isn't bad at all.

I have spent the morning airing out my apartment, cleaning up the debris and dirt that blew through the windows yesterday. The apartment smells a bit more fresh (it was musty smelling this morning) and it looks 80% better than it did when I walked in last night.

Pua is still a bit shaky and has been hiding under my bed all day. But I bet by the end of the day she'll be out and about again.

I hope to take more photos this afternoon. My neighborhood got hit pretty hard and most people are without power still. There is a lot of police tape around because tress fell on houses, cars, etc. More later...

3:10 to Yuma

Aaron's movie, 3:10 to Yuma, is being released on Friday, Sept 7th. I'm not a huge fan of Western films but with a cast line-up of Peter Fonda, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, how could I not see it opening weekend?
Actually, I just really enjoy seeing my friends' names scroll across the big screen during the credits. And I usually stand, point to the screen and exclaim "There's Aaron's Name!" (or "There's Josh's Name!"...depending on the film...). And other movie patrons look at me funny as I clap really loud but I just ignore them and think to myself "they're just jealous that they don't know anyone whose name scrolls across the big screen..."
but i digress.
Go see 3:10 to Yuma. It's supposed to be good.
*man, the punctuation in this blog posting is out of control!*

The Big Squeeze

Sarah captured a birthday hug from Paddy. Although it appears he's got me locked in a choke hold, it really is just a passionate squeeze which says "Happy Birthday!"

Murry n Me

On Saturday, before heading to a wedding, Richie and I were able to meet up with my friend Murry. Murry was in town with his band, Old 97s, headlining a street festival in Little Italy. It was great catching up and seeing pics of his new son, Tex!

Carnivale

On Friday, my girlfriends surprised me by taking me to dinner at Carnivale! It's a Latin theme restaurant with bright colors, salsa music, dancing, and an amazing menu! I dined on pork shoulder, rice and beans and fried plantains. Yum!! Thank you Carisa, Michelle and Sarah for such a wonderful birthday treat!

Lollapalooza - Day 3

Photos from Day 3 - by far the hottest day of the weekend. Richie noticed the trend of people wearing hankerchiefs around their faces, like banditos. We had a little fun with that. :)
Shows I saw:
Amy Winehouse (so awesome!)
Paolo Nutini
Kings of Leon
Peter Bjorn and John (they lost power and so I only saw 3 songs)
Modest Mouse
Cafe Tacuba
