That is One Tall Orange Woman

*This was just hilarious, I had to share it....*

Celebrity Terror Watch: Tyra Banks
We here at GFY HQ would like to issue a Tanorexia orange alert, pun fully intended, because of word of an epidemic sweeping the America's Next Top Model gang: It would appear that Jay Manuel's rampant affinity for turning himself orange is terribly, toxically catching.
To wit: Here is Tyra Banks in her Emmy dress (and exposed wig tape) late last year.

And here she is as photographed at the PGA awards -- which is thrown by the Producer's Guild of America, and not, in fact, a ceremony devoted to the very best in golf, at which her presence would be a tad more confusing. At any rate, have a gander.

That is one tall orange woman. We have never in our lives seen Tyra Banks that unnaturally orange -- and, thanks to her campaign for global domination, we've seen a lot of her. Was she so engrossed in lying on the beach eating ribs that she forgot to turn over? Did she shoot an episode of her show entitled, "Confronting Your Fear Of The Surface Of The Sun?" Did she too hastily try cracking open a can of whoop-ass on a poor unsuspecting Tyra Banks Show guest, only to find out too late that she grabbed a can of self-tanner instead? And most vitally of all, WHY did she agree to leave the house looking so ... fluorescent? Nobody in the world needs to be neon orange.
Perhaps this is all for her talk show's Undercover series, in which she pulled the wool over all our disbelieving eyes by masquerading as an overweight woman, a stripper, and a male member of the entourage of a somewhat mortified Chingy. We can't imagine what she's pretending to be -- mama oompa loompa seems too obvious; a cautionary tale about the dangers of eating a surplus of carrots, too self-sacrificing -- but we hope her radioactive hue dies down soon.

Chicago Bears: Past and Present

In all the buzz about the Bears going to the Superbowl, I hadn't thought about how it might effect my friend/co-worker, Kristi. Kristi is Brian Piccolo's daughter and it seems whenever anything is happening with The Bears, Kristi somehow ends up being talked about in the news. I wish she could just enjoy the game, like the rest of the city, without having to discuss her father's death.

Running with Scissors

*This post has two possible endings. Please vote to decide which is the better one.*

The critics of Running with Scissors claim that it's a laugh-out-loud book. That AugustenBurroughs is the new David Sedaris. That he is able to take his tragic childhood story and write about it in a way that adds humor to the worst of situations.
Well, I'm halfway through this book and I haven't laughed once. This is nothing like David Sedaris. If you want to read a funny book, go pick up Me Talk Pretty One Day.

Ending #1: There is nothing sadder than someone attempting to add humor to a crappy situation. And failing.

Ending #2: Augusten took the 'fun' out of 'dysfunctional'.

Courtney's Shots

Thanks Courtney for sending photos! Here are a few shots from our night of clubbing on Wall Street. I love to dance!!
*Please excuse my really sweaty hair. I had been dancing on a stage for a few hours and it got a little warm. :)

The Hulk

I snapped lots of photos at Islands of Adventure, on Saturday. Luckily, the lines weren't too bad for most rides. I have dubbed The Hulk as the best roller coaster ride ever! We rode that one twice and my throat was hoarse from screaming! Thanks Lance for not telling me the surprise before I rode The Hulk!
We also rode The Spiderman ride, which was really cool. The 3-D effects were pretty incredible! Lance and I jumped on a ride that basically shoots you straight up into the air and then drops you back down to the ground. Lance hates that ride. :)
The three of us also checked out the ride "Ice" which had a cool dungeon setting for when you were waiting in line.
We also took a couple of hours and ventured over to the Universal where we saw Bruce, the shark from Jaws, and experienced a tornado on the set of Twister. Pretty cool! We ended the night by lounging at the Margaritaville bar with some food and a couple of cocktails. All in all, a very good day.
I can't recommend The Hulk enough, though. Seriously, that is the best roller coaster in the whole world. Scared the crap out of me...in a fantastic way!!! Does anyone else love roller coasters as much as I do?

More Color

We snapped some 'fun' photos before hitting the clubs. Thanks Courtney for encouraging even "More Color!" (More photos to come, once Courtney sends them my way.)

$1 Tequila Shots

We grabbed some food at this dive Mexican joint called PR's. People write all over the walls, chairs, tables, windows, ceilings, and bar there. After being seated, I noticed a little something that was written on the window next to us. How funny!
Also, the joint is located next to some train tracks, so everytime the train goes by the bartender rings a bell, the crowd cheers and buys a dollar shot of tequila.
Courtney is right, this restaurant had awesome food!

Pink and Orange

Courtney and I were able to squeeze in some manis and pedis before we hit the clubs, on Friday night. Girls time is so much fun!

Hanging in O-Town

First we hit up a cool wine bar in Winter Park and then out for an Italian feast. The weather was so warm. It was great wearing flip flops around again!

Superbowl

The Bears are heading to the Superbowl! What a way to come back to Chicago! I stepped off the L into the cold; trudged my frozen feet through 5 blocks of snow-covered sidewalks. As I turned the corner onto Damen, I saw the street was filled with people yelling. All the cars were honking their horns. Everyone was chanting "Bears, Bears, Bears!!" I walked past one guy who slapped me a high five as we both cheered "Yeah, Go Bears!"
It's good to be home.

Photos of Florida coming soon...

LOL

I know this is a bit dorky, but I found it to be funny (thanks to the English nerd side of me). Thanks Mom, for the mid-afternoon laugh!

These are strange Analogies plucked from student essays because of their uniqueness.

Shots rang out, as shots are wont to do.

The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just mightt work.

The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for a while.

"Oh, Jason, take me!" she panted, her breasts heaving like a college freshman on a Dollar Beer Night.

He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

Her artistic sense was exquisitely refined, like someone who can tell butter from "I Can't Belierve Its' Not Butter".

She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.

It came down the stairs looking very much like something no one had ever seen before.

The knife was as sharp as the tone used by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Tex) in her first several points of parliamentary procedure made to Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill) in the House Judiciary Committee hearings on the impeachment of President William Jefferson clinton.

The ballerina rose gracefully en pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant.

The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife's infidelity came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM.

The dandelion swayed in the gentle breeze like an oscillating electric fan set on medium.

It was an American tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with power tools.

He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a garbage truck backing up.

She was as easy as the "TV Guide" crossword.

Her eyes were like limpid pools, only they had forgotten to put in any pH cleanser.

She grew on him like she was a colony of E. coli and he was room-temperature Canadian beef.

She walked into my office like a centipede with 98 missing legs.

Her voice had that tense, grating quality, like a first-generation thermal paper fax machine that needed a band tightened.

It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall.
