Neighbors

Bob and I met up for some pints at The Riverview Tavern. I love my neighborhood! Bob - are you keeping up with my blog?!? :)

Snuggle

Pua felt snuggly last night, so I snapped some photos of her. She's so sweet. :)

**Josh, i just got to thinking about all the times you would cat-sit for me. You would sit on my sofa for hours and no cats would ever appear. Still cracks me up. But the best story was when Karla was cat sitting and she came into my apartment and found little red paw prints all over the kitchen floor and carpet. Some kitty had gotten in to my stamping stuff and left a trail all over the place. hee hee **

Premiere

Josh, I hope you have fun at the Premiere tonight! I just know the crowd will love it! And I promise I will schedule an LA trip around your next premiere, so I can be your date! Maybe I could get on Access Hollywood! We could do something scandalous on the red carpet, cause a scene, and I could snag my 15 minutes of fame!!
Are you sure you want to extend me the invite?

Have fun tonight!!!

Bringing Up Baby

Sarah, Ashley and I ventured down to Grant Park (by the lake) to see the outdoor film, "Bringing Up Baby". It was so much fun!! And I got a little snap happy with the city skyline behind us. But as the sun was setting it just got more and more beautiful (sorry if the pics are out of order and it looks like the sun is rising instead of setting, but i don't have the patience to try to arrange them).
Also, a big thank you goes out to Sarah for being such a good sport. She was so willing to stand in the middle of an open patch and hold her arm out while i positioned her body to appear like she was touching the top of a building.
Friendship is Rare!

I Scream, You Scream

Such a beautiful Sunday afternoon!! I walked the neighborhood a bit and stopped in the local ice cream shop for a cone. Ice cream tastes best in a cone, I think. Then I sat on the bench and read my book for awhile.
Karla, it was great talking to you today! Hopefully they finished shooting the scenes today and didn't put any holes in the wall! :)

Wicker Park Street Festival

Michelle and I spent the afternoon at the Wicker Park Street Festival. There was a pretty good line-up of bands and I was happy to see that The Record Low and Moxie Motive were playing back to back sets. I haven't seen either band since last fall, so it was fun jamming to that for awhile.
Today was perfect street fest. weather! Sunny, breezy (my skirt got away from me a bit while walking down Milwaukee- such a dangerous street that is) and only about mid-80s. Gorgeous! (I got me a little sunburn on the shoulders but it was well worth it!)
Also, Michelle's friend from college, Boyd, is in town with his band, Human Television, so he joined up with us for a few beers. I gave Boyd a copy of The Reader, so he could see what the music editor wrote about his band. Human Television even got a pic put in the paper! Woot!
Afterwards, the three of us hit up Earwax for some dinner. Earwax is one of my favorite veggie restaurants in the city. Yum!
(I love watching the kids dance around at the street festivals.)

I love this city in the summer. :)

Appalling Apparel

I want to know, who at American Apparel thought up the idea that their marketing campaign should closely resemble basement, kiddie porn? Does this really boost the sales of their sweat-shop free t-shirts? They might be saving those kids from working long, crazy hours...but it appears they are instead making them pose for basement, polaroid-esque shots while masterbating.

OM + JK = True Love

Another photo of my boyfriend, for y'all. Don't you just love his jeans?! Did ya know he also has a degree in Literature? Yet another reason why we are perfect for each other.
Now I just need to make sure he is over 6 feet tall. (a girl's gotta have standards)

**This just in - John is 6'3". We're soulmates.**

My Boyfriend has Good Taste in Music

John + Death Cab = Le Sigh.

Cover Girl

My friend, Amy, is in the new CB2 catalgoue. I would insert a link to her photo, but the stupid link program isn't working right now.
So instead, please visit www.cb2.com then go to "view catalgoue online:. She's on page 62.

This Crap Never Happened When I Lived There

This just announced today, Matthew is riding RAGBRAI with Lance. He will also be in Newton, Iowa. I bet a million dollars Jake ends up in Newton too. For the first time in my entire life, I wish I lived in Newton, Iowa.
This crap never happened when I lived in Iowa. All I ever saw was Tom Arnold.

Help a Good Cause

This is my mom. She is the Director of United Way for Jasper County. She has worked out a deal with a yahoo search engine, Good Search, so that for every person who uses Good Search, Yahoo will donate one cent to United Way for Jasper County.
So instead of using Google, why not start using Good Search?!

Here's the info:
So what do you need to do? It’s EASY-just follow these simple steps.
1. Log onto www.goodsearch.org
2. Type “ United Way of Jasper county in the second box on the page.
3. Hit Verify
Search the internet as you normally would
Download the GoodSearch toolbar at www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/ for easy daily access.
Add it to every computer you use!

I've updated my sidebar, by removing the Google link and adding the Good Search link.
Thanks!

Michi and Me

Michelle has arrived in Chi-town! Woot!
We met up in Wicker Park and walked the 6 corners a bit, then headed over to Piece for some dinner. After a bit more exploring, including a quick stop in Reckless Records and another stop to purchase earrings and shades, we headed back up to Roscoe Village (i.e. my stompin' grounds). From there we went to VoLo for some vino.
Yeah for you being here!! Can't wait for the weekend!

RAGBRAI

Lance Armstrong is riding RAGBRAI this year!! RAGBRAI (which stands for Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) is a week long bike ride across the state. This year, one of the pit stops is in Newton, Iowa (which is where my mama lives). Lance has announced he is riding the leg that ends in Newton!! Woot!

You're Out.

I love Project Runway. I love watching these designers create entire looks from bedsheets and shower curtains! It's amazing! It reminds me of being in L.A. Every Tuesday night, my friends and I would get together to cook an awesome meal, watch Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and design. We designed clothes, jewelry, paper, etc. It was fun ripping things apart and putting them back together in a totally different way. I still have the two leather cuffs I designed (we had gotten a bunch of leather scraps from work and spent an evening making cuffs and bags).
Sadia and I once went fabric shopping in West Hollywood. It was right before she headed over to Japan and we wanted to redesign her luggage. So we shopped fun, bright fabrics so we could sew them onto the different panels of her suitcase. This way no one would accidently take her bag!
I am really proud of my mom and my sister, they have both recently taken up jewelry design. Not only are they having a great time taking classes and working on designs, but their jewelry is incredible! They make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings!
And Angie mentioned she is taking up knitting! How awesome is that! My friend, Ashley, knits and she just finished making a rug. It's beautiful and extremely soft.

I've recently thought about trying to quilt. But I know me, if it takes a long time I will usually get bored after a week or two. That was what I loved about Tuesdays in L.A., each week we worked on a different design.

Anyway, I love this show and I am really glad that girl got booted. There is no way in hell I would buy a dress with a see-through skirt. No way. You're Out!

Another Pic!

Sarah just sent me this new pic from Saturday's party. In this photo absolutely zero of us have our mouth hanging open. (Prolly cause this was taken before we had finished our first lemonade vodka.) I had a blast ladies!!
