Paint by Number

Laine and Chris got to painting their villa, down in Texas. I heart the warm colors! And y'all know how much I love red. It looks beautiful, Laine! Now we just got to get some artwork on those ginormous walls. It's so difficult decorating such a large estate.
And Grace cracks me up. She just loves having her pic taken!

Haunted House

Andrea loaned me Season 1 of the show "House". I've been watching it non-stop for the past week. It's a really interesting show and I love the main character! I don't usually like sarcasm, but somehow he pulls it off.
The only down-side, the show gives me the strangest dreams. Last night I dreamt that I needed to have my side removed. The doctors were going to cut the side of my body off. No wonder why I'm tired today! (it could also be b/c i haven't had my morning cup of joe)

Saved

That hot date I had last night...not so hot. Josh - we're totally on the same wavelength. Some people just don't get it.

Temperature Control

A big thanks goes out to Dan who hauled my window air conditioner up three flights of stairs last night, into my apartment. Now my place is nice and cool. Thanks!!

Just in time too, cause I have a hot date tonight. I'll keep y'all posted on how that goes. :)

This Ain't No Chop Shop

Kim cut my hair tonight and I love it!! She's been a student at The Aveda Institute for awhile now and she's really talented! When I came to her I said I was growing my hair out but needed some shape and she came up with this brilliant cut! Thanks, Kim!!

That Girl is Poison

Josh was in town on a press junket for "Talladega Nights". We were able to meet up for drinks last night at Mulligan's House. It was great hanging out with him again.

And I love that Josh is now flying around in private jets and getting helicopter rides back to his hotel and yet he buys an $8 velcro wallet, with a Cubs logo. The ladies will love that...

Cat Nap

I think Pua is on to something.

The Squid and the Whale

I know I am about a year late in seeing "The Squid and the Whale" but last night Sarah, Andrea and I finally sat down to watch it. Was it good? Yes. Would I buy it or ever watch it again? Prolly not.

The Cabs Are Not Where We Are

What a great day! Dan and I celebrated the 4th of July in style! First we headed over to Navy Pier (and by headed I mean walked the whole way while trying to hail a cab) to grab some lunch at Charlie's Ale House. Then we saw Superman Returns at the IMAX (which is a MUST SEE MOVIE, especially at the IMAX. There was so much in 3-D, it was awesome! Woot!) Then we cabbed it over to The Taste of Chicago and then finished our field trip by strolling through Millenium Park. It was so beautiful outside today, maybe in the 80's, clear sky and cool breeze. Happy Fourth of July!!

(Sorry the pics are all out of order, but I'm too tired to try and rearrange them.)

Blue Like Jazz

I've started reading this new book, "Blue Like Jazz". It reminds me of Anne Lamott's writing only from a male perspective. I would recommend it. Here's what the author, Don Miller, wrote about it:

When I started writing this book I just wanted to end up with something like Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies, because in Traveling Mercies it felt like she was free, free to be herself, to tell her story, to just vent, to rant, to speak as if she were talking to a friend. Traveling Mercies helped me write this book, and in a way, for a while, Anne will be "The Beattles" of spiritual books, because she has infulenced so many of us. I definitely feel as though I got permission from Anne Lamott, permission to be human and to interact with God without all of the mind-melt that comes with growing up in a religious family. I never believed it would be published, and so I was pretty open in this book. My carreer was dead when I started this thing, so I felt like I was just talking to myself, or to the little reading group that met at my house. Sting has this song where he says that he is alone on an island and puts a message in a bottle and throws it into the ocean, only to wake the next morning and have a hundred million bottles washed upon his shore. He sings "I guess I'm not alone at being alone." and I think that sums up how I feel about Blue Like Jazz. It feels like I thought I was alone but woke up one morning to discover nothing could be further from the truth. And people have been incredibly kind.
