Perfect Timing

Seriously, God has an awesome sense of humor!
Just in time!! This Friday, June 2nd, the film "The Break-Up" is being released! (And if we all think real hard we might just remember what June 2nd is.)
My good friend, Murry, is in the film so everyone should go out and support him. (He's the guy with the glasses in the band.)
*I almost had a dangling modifier there. whew!*

It looks hilarious and it's a perfect tribute to my life! Woot!
*Here's a shout out to my ladies and all their never-ending support: Mom, Angie, Karla, Amy, Sarah, Sarah, Sadia, Ashley, Joy, Precious, Annie and Laine (even though you're in Italy)! Love you!!*

Also, I found out this weekend that I am RELATED to the guy who is playing Superman in the upcoming "Superman Returns" movie. He is my brother-in-law's cousin (once removed). Holy crap, that makes us practically BFF!

That, along with my mom's movie deal...it's just a matter of time before my family has a reality show: "Livin' it up, Iowa Style".

Rocky Mountain High....Colorado

Ashley went hiking in Colorado over the Memorial Day weekend. She met up with her twin sister, her twin's fiance, and an old college friend, Paul. I bet next time she brings along a sunscreen with a higher SPF. :)

Careful What You Wish For

Max really wanted Angie's lemon. So she finally gave it to him. And then he wanted it again! That boy loves to eat.

Max 1st Birthday

I went to Iowa this weekend to celebrate Max's 1st birthday. It was great seeing my family. I am very blessed...

The Legends Ball

Last night I watched Oprah's "Legends Ball". At first I thought it would be a 'rich celebrating the rich' sort of event, but I was actually surprised at how touching the event was. Basically, Oprah invited all of the women who have inspired her and who have paved a way for future women. These women included authors, singers, actors, activists, and dancers. It really was an incredible experience to see all of these women together in one room.

So it got me thinking about the women in my life and how they inspire me. And how I had no idea when I first met them that they would have such a deep inpact on me and my life. So here's a tribute to those women, and the stories of how we met:

Laine - I met Laine on the first day of work at CDW. It was my first job out of college and I had recently moved to Chicago. We were in a class of about 30 people and we were sitting in seats that had been arranged alphabetically by last name. So we sat next to one another. We were told to do a little ice-breaker exercise by turning to the person next to us and telling them something about ourselves that no everyone knows. I told Laine I have a tattoo on my lower back. She told me she was getting married on June 9th. And we've been best friends ever since.

Karla - I actually heard about Karla before I ever met her. I had been living in Los Angeles for about 4 months when I was told that I would be transferring job locations out to Pasadena. I was upset because I had just started to make friends at The Grove and didn't want to have to leave. My friend, Piper, told me about a woman named Karla who worked C.S. at Pasadena. She said Karla was quiet (but everyone is quiet compared to Piper) and very nice.
So my first day at Pasadena, which was March 17th, Felicity walked me around the store and introduced me to everyone. I remember her walking me into the tiny C.S. office and introducing me to Karla. I remember I liked Karla's hair, and that she kept a really big jug of water next to her computer, and a half eaten bagel was in a baggie next to the keyboard. And the rest is history...

Sadia - It was the first week of work in L.A. and there was an all store meeting. I was asked to introduce myself to everyone and tell a bit about myself. So I sat in front of a crowd of about 25 people and said "My name is Olivia, I'm from Iowa, I got my degree in English and Women's Studies.." and in the back of the crowd I heard a voice say "Hey, I studied Women's Studies!" I just kept on by saying "I really like art, and films, and music. I listen to a lot of Ani DiFranco." and i heard the same voice say "I love me some Ani!" Finally I saw where the voice was coming from and I smiled at the woman who sat way in the back but whose voice made it's way all the way up front, to me. :)

I would also like to mention the following women who inspire me daily: my mom, Angie, Amy B., and Dorothy Woods. Thank you for all that you do.

Nightmare

I have a very wild imagination and I have a tendency to dream really vivid dreams. I woke up at 3:17am today, because of the following nightmare:

I was in a farm house. I knew that a guy, named Denny, was in the house with me. In my dream, I somehow knew that Denny was friends with my dad and Julie, my old step-mother. (how they got in the dream is beyond me.) I remember Denny being tall and broadchested and he had light brown hair. I was afraid of Denny and was running through the house trying to get away from him. He was chasing me and he was fast and I remember thinking he was catching up on me.
Denny had a shot gun.
I ran into a dark bedroom and closed the door and crouched behind a bed and found a phone. I dialed 911 and told the operator that someone was trying to kill me and I needed help really bad and they needed to come really fast. She said that help was on the way. So I stayed crouched behind the bed for awhile and I could hear Denny roaming around the hallway looking for me and I kept praying i would hear sirens, but the sirens weren't coming. I couldn't hear anything except Denny's footsteps.
Finally Denny opened the bedroom door and saw me behind the bed. All of a sudden the room was filled with light and Denny pointed the shot gun at me. I was begging him not to shoot me and I kept saying that help was on the way but he shot me anyway. The two shotgun bullets went into my shins. One in each shin. And there was no blood but it looked like I had baseball's underneath the skin, as if I had absorbed the bullets. Both of my shins were bruised purple/blue and they hurt so much and I couldn't stand and I couldn't run anymore.
And Denny was trying to reload the shotgun and I reached out and grabbed his leg and he tripped and fell. I grabbed the gun and loaded the bullets and shot him in the neck. And he fell to the ground and there was blood everywhere.
And then a neighbor came over and saw that I had been shot and picked me up and put me in the back of his car. He said he would drive me to the hospital.

And then I woke up.

Peace Out, Dude!

Precious and I got together last night to watch the finale of The Amazing Race. We ate brie and pears, drank wine, and watched as the Hippies crossed the finish line to win a million dollars. Go Team Hippies!!

Reason 5489151681265 why Precious kicks ass: she was hired to be a dancer for a Sweet 16 party at Park West, this past Saturday. Why is this kick ass, you ask? Well, the 16 year old is the daughter of the CEO of Comcast (or something like that). Kanye West performed at her party. Precious was sewn into a costume made of mirrors and danced on a platform for 2 hours while Kanye rapped.
Now that, my friend, is kick ass.
